Director of Research, Impact & Outcomes The Justice Climate Fund (JCF) is a purpose-built nonprofit designed to provide the capital and technical knowledge necessary for community lenders to successfully finance clean energy projects in low-income and disadvantaged communities across the country. JCF will capitalize its coalition members, including Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) banks, loan funds, and housing developers, to create a clean and just energy transition for their communities.


JCF is supported by an existing ecosystem of coalition members, including the African American Alliance of CDFI CEOs, National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders, National Bankers Community Alliance, Partners for the Common Good, and Oweesta Corporation, along with technical assistance partners that will help community lenders deploy clean energy projects. With its $940 million award, JCF will stand up a Community-Based Green Lender Certification Program that utilizes several application waves and capital reservations to ensure that community lenders receive funding only once they have been appropriately assessed, trained, and certified.


About the Position


To move JCF to its next level of success, JCF seeks a Director of Research, Impact, & Outcomes to provide strategic storytelling, create and implement the organization’s research agenda and impact assessment strategy, and establish metrics to evaluate the efficacy of JCF’s program models. Reporting to the Chief Engagement & Strategy Officer, the Director works collaboratively across all departments to continually promote accurate and reliable data collection, meaningful evaluation, and reporting to peers and leadership, the Board of Directors, and external stakeholders.


Job Responsibilities


Strategic Leadership

  • Help shape the development and implementation of JCFs impact and data strategy and establish processes and tools that will support our partners' ability to realize their impact of community based green lending
  • Develop research strategies that effectively address organizational strategic goals
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to integrate impact considerations into all aspects of the organization's operations and decision-making processes


Reporting and Storytelling

  • Meet reporting needs of the organization's partners and other stakeholders
  • Craft impact reports that can be translated into various marketing formats used by the organization
  • Develop presentations on JCF's impact to internal and external audiences, including the Board of Directors, funders, and partners


Data Management and Analysis

  • Utilize JCF’s data management tools, ensuring it captures all required data and produces reports that support data-informed program development and decision-making
  • Develop comprehensive dashboards for program and organizational leadership, providing regular insights into performance and impact


Program Evaluation and Improvement

  • Design and implement program evaluation frameworks to assess the efficiency, effectiveness, and impact of JCF's programs
  • Lead data-informed program development and refinement processes to continuously improve outcomes for partners
  • Identify gaps in current service offerings and work with key staff to develop new initiatives or services to address these needs


Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree required; Advanced degree in social sciences, education, or a related field preferred
  • 7 years of seven years of in applied research, program evaluation, or nonprofit or government impact measurement
  • Demonstrated track record of implementing successful impact measurement frameworks and driving data-informed decision-making processes
  • Experience with grant management and reporting to government and private funders
  • Must be deeply aligned with JCF’s mission, demonstrating a genuine passion for, and experience in, environmental justice and community lending
  • Must thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, as the organization is a new startup that is continuously evolving
  • Strong understanding of monitoring and evaluation methodologies involving both quantitative and qualitative data
  • Expertise in the design and management of databases
  • Familiarity designing and executing common data collection methods, including surveys, interviews, focus groups, and experiments
  • Excellent analytical, communication and writing skills with the ability to make complex information accessible to a wide variety of audiences and prepare clear and concise reports
  • A collaborative, flexible leader who projects maturity, confidence, and credibility to external stakeholders, investors, and partners and brings exceptional skills as an active listener, community convener, consensus builder, and advisor
